NTS is more than just another traffic count company, it is a traffic data consultant performing all types of traffic studies needed by both government and private sectors. Since its inception in 1979, NTS has surveyed well over a billion vehicles for over 200 clients and that number continues to grow. Surveys vary from the basic machine counts to hand counting, radar surveys, classification, license plate and parking surveys and other special studies on request. There are few things that set NTS apart from other count companies. The first is that we have a traffic engineering background without being affiliated with any consulting firm that may be called on to analyze the data. Our data is a true reflection of what is happening and reported without prejudice. The second area is that we do not use any temp services for any of our studies as other companies do. We know others do so since we get calls from temp services using other companies as reference . We believe that regular staffing provides for a better-trained crew that will supply the best data possible. The third area is environmental. We remove all tape from the roadway surface after the count is complete. We think it is ‘tacky’ to drive down the street and be able to tell where a traffic count has been taken due to all the tape left on the roadway. We clean up our project sites. This web site contains many of the standard forms used by NTS to display the results of a survey. Some may ask why this site is so detailed but that is because we believe that the presentation of the data is almost as important as the data itself. Awkward forms add to the time one spends analyzing the data and could lead to a wrong conclusion if misread. Our forms are designed to be simple to read and do not require an “instruction manual”. Since NTS writes all its own software for these data presentations, we can easily modify or create new forms for a client upon request.
