Radar Surveys
for
Engineering and Traffic Studies

The Radar Survey is the core of the Engineering and Traffic Study. A Doppler radar hand gun is used to sample the speed of free flowing traffic during off peak hours. We then bring the data back to the office and prepare the speed report (examples shown below). There are rare occasions where the two directions of traffic vary widely in speed and the engineer must address that issue. This is why Newport Traffic Studies samples both directions separately and prepares a report for each direction and the total of the traffic flow.

The form on the right is a speed zoning review form to assist the City or Consultant. It contains a series of questions to be completed in order to complete the study. This form is not intended to be a final report but an assistance to the engineer by saving him time to create such a form for his/her own use. Saving time means saving Money.
